COOL RUNNINGS 2! U.S. TRACK STAR LOLO JONES MAKES U.S. BOBSLED TEAM!

American hurdler Lolo Jones, who fell short of her goal of winning a medal at the 2012 London Olympics, probably has a new set of goals in mind now that she's been selected to the United States bobsled team, according to the Associated Press (h/t ABC News). Jones was one of several track and field stars given the chance to earn a spot on the squad, and she made it as a push athlete. The selection gives her an opportunity to make the final team that will represent the country at the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi. "It was definitely a thrill," Jones said, per the AP. "This is definitely the first time I've made a team and I haven't had to cross the finish line and look at the scoreboard." The 30-year-old Iowa native first skyrocketed to fame four years ago during the buildup to the last Olympics, establishing herself as a top contender in the 100-meter hurdles. But she failed in the medal race after stumbling over a hurdle. Her Olympic struggles continued in London. After strong performances in her first two heats, Jones was only able to muster a fourth-place finish in the final. Once again, she missed the podium despite high expectations stateside. Jones' high level of exposure combined with her lack of results on her sport's biggest stages has led to plenty of criticism. It was highlighted by a scathing piece in The New York Times about her use of sex appeal to attract attention. Now, she gets a chance to prove the doubters wrong in a completely new sport. Her performances during the testing must have been impressive enough to catch the eye of the coaches, who had no shortage of options for the 24 roster spots. Her athleticism should make her a good fit for the fast-paced sport, which is always trying to attract track and field athletes to join the fray. Jones gave it a chance and could now make appearances at both the Summer and Winter Games, a terrific feat. The AP report states she's still planning on making another run toward hurdling gold in 2016, as well.

CHRIS BROWN REPORTEDLY FAILS DRUG TEST!

“I’m praying for you and wishing u the best today!” That was the tweet from singer Rihanna to her law-troubled former beau Chris Brown this afternoon and he may need all the best wishes he can get. According to TMZ, the R&B/pop singer recently failed a drug test where it was found he had tested positive for marijuana. In Virginia, smoking weed is illegal. Breezy may have been under the wrong impression though, according to Judge Patricia Schnegg, Brown was never ordered to undergo mandatory drug testing as part of his probation. With that in mind, she let him off with only a warning reminding him to follow the law. Chris was in court for a probation progress report hearing in the case of the felony battery of Rihanna. According to probation report, Brown told his probation officer he had smoked weed in California. Brown has a medical marijuana prescription in the Golden State and it was in Virginia where he failed the drug test.

MAJOR LEAGUE PITCHER BARTOLO COLON SUSPENDED 50 GAMES AFTER TESTING POSITIVE FOR PERFORMANCE-ENHANCING DRUGS!

Oakland Athletics’ right-handed pitcher Bartolo Colon has been suspended 50 games for testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs. Major League Baseball announced the suspension Wednesday for the 39-year-old Colon, who was in the midst of a rebound season with a 10-9 record and 3.43 ERA for the wild-card contender. “I apologize to the fans, to my teammates and to the Oakland A’s. I accept responsibility for my actions and I will serve my suspension as required by the Joint Drug Program,” Colon said in a statement released through the MLBPA. Colon did not pitch in 2010 but he underwent stem-cell treatment on his pitching shoulder and elbow and returned to make 26 starts with the New York Yankees last season. Colon was 8-10 with a 4.00 ERA. Colon’s suspension was the second 50-game ban handed down by baseball in the past week. Giants’ All-Star outfielder Melky Cabrera was suspended 50 games for testing positive for testosterone last week. Colon signed a one-year, $2 million contract with the Athletics, his seventh Major League team — he had two stints with the Chicago White Sox — since entering the league with the Cleveland Indians in 1997. Cleveland signed him as a free agent in 1993 out of the Dominican Republic. He has a career record of 171-122 and a 4.05 ERA.

EXPLOSVIE VIDEO: LANA DEL REY-NATIONAL ANTHEM FEAT. A$AP ROCKY

The epic, movie-like video stands at nearly eight minutes long, directed by Anthony Mandler, and begins with Lana giving the classic rendition of “Happy Birthday” that Marilyn Monroe once gave to former president John F. Kennedy. Throughout the video, Rocky continues to give his depiction of JFK while Lana steps into the role of his wife Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis – aka Jackie O. Most of the video is happy and jubilant as we see the pair get lovingly close, playing with heir children, but towards the end the mood turns a lot darker. Given the JFK reference I think you can guess what happens. The video is shot to give the effect of an old school camera lens with the edges burnt black in contrast to the vibrant bursts of colour used throughout, attesting to Rocky’s previous description of the video being “some cool, trippy shit.” In an age where we see so many videos all looking the same, Lana Del Rey has excelled herself to bring some artistic creativity to the mix.
