DREAM COME TRUE! KATY PERRY 2ND ALBUM "TEENAGE DREAM" NO. 1 IN FIRST WEEK SALES!

Katy Perry has cemented her status as a best-selling pop superstar with her second studio album ""Teenage Dream,"" which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Top 200 Albums chart, scanning 192,222 units in its first week of release. Katy is now one of the top 10 artists with the best-selling debuts of the year and one of only two pop artists to appear on this list. "Teenage Dream" is the two-time Grammy Award nominee's highest album chart bow yet. Katy's debut album, One of the Boys, scanned 46,767 units in its first week.
Katy has now achieved the highest pre-album street date track sales of all time, with 4.4 million digital tracks sold prior to the album's release - setting a Nielsen Soundscan-era record. 445,746 total tracks were sold during "Teenage Dream's" first week of release. In addition, with the Top 5 chart positions of the album's first two singles, the six-week No. 1 "California Gurls" and ""Teenage Dream,"" Katy has become one of only ten female artists in history to have two songs in the Top 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 at the same time. Currently Katy has 12 songs charting on the Soundscan Current Digital Tracks chart simultaneously including Teenage Dream album tracks "Firework", "Peacock" and "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F)".
Katy is a pioneer in the new world order of pop superstardom, where success is measured not just by album sales, but also by sales of digital singles, ringtones, and music videos (clips for both "Teenage Dream" and "California Gurls" have remained in the iTunes Top 10 Music Videos chart for weeks). Measured in "TEA"'s (industry parlance for "track equivalent albums," in which the sale of 10 digital singles is counted as the sale of one album), "Teenage Dream," plus individual tracks sold, totals the equivalent of nearly 720,000 albums sold by the end of Katy's first week. This follows on the heels of "One of the Boys," which has sold five million copies worldwide.
"Teenage Dream" has easily averted the sophomore slump, with MTV.com opining that it is "the best second effort in pop music history." USA Today raves that "the ambitious brunette serves up percolating confections laced with saucy humor and disarming earnestness," while Rolling Stone has called "Teenage Dream" a "pool-party pop gem." The New York Post declares "Teenage Dream" "a total success" that "may have the juice to topple Michael Jackson's "Bad" as the U.S. record holder for most singles released from one album."
Katy co-wrote each of "Teenage Dream's" 12 songs, collaborating with a red-hot production team that includes Max Martin, Dr. Luke, Tricky Stewart, Benny Blanco, Greg Wells, and
The Santa Barbara, CA-born Katy performed on The Late Show With David Letterman and The Today Show's Summer Concert Series during "Teenage Dream's" release week and recently co-hosted the 2010 Teen Choice Awards with the male cast of Glee. She has appeared on the covers of dozens of publications, including recent issues of Rolling Stone, Seventeen, Q, Billboard, the New York Times' Arts & Leisure section, and USAToday's Life section. Katy has been nominated for two 2010 MTV Video Music Awards for "California Gurls" ("Best Female Video" and "Best Pop Video") and became a portrait subject for renowned contemporary artist Will Cotton, whose confectionary landscape painting of her graces the cover of "Teenage Dream."

U.K. SENSATION PIXIE LOTT DEBUTS U.S. SINGLE

Already a massive star in her native U.K., with one million singles sold, two No. 1 hits, and three No. 1 Airplay records to her credit, soulful pop singer and actress Pixie Lott is ready to unleash her talent Stateside this summer. Her debut U.S. single, "Boys and Girls," is available at all digital service providers this week via Interscope Records.
The high-energy dance-pop jam "Boys and Girls" is 19-year-old Lott's second consecutive No. 1 single in the U.K., and it's just a taste of what's to come when Lott releases her debut album, Turn It Up, in the U.S. in early 2011. Already certified double-platinum in the U.K., Turn It Up features Lott's songwriting collaborations with RedOne (Lady Gaga), Greg Kurstin (Lily Allen, Sia), Toby Gad (Beyonce, Fergie, Cutfather and Jonas Jeburg (Kylie Minogue, Pussycat Dolls), and Kara Dioguardi.
In addition to releasing five singles in the U.K., Lott has scored three No. 1 Airplay tracks. She is the only U.K. or international recording artist of the last 10 years to have three debut singles hit No. 1 on the U.K. Airplay chart. She has also earned three BRIT Award nominations (including Breakthrough Artist) and a Q Award nomination, and won two MTV Europe Music Awards. This summer, Lott has appeared as support on the British leg of Rihanna's "Last Girl on Earth" Tour.
An actress since the age of 12, Lott stars alongside Lucas Cruikshank in the feature film "Fred: The Movie," based on the popular YouTube videos, which will premiere on Nickelodeon on September 17th. She has also been cast alongside Bette Midler, Bette Midler, and Sharon Stone in the film "Sweet Baby Jesus" — a '70s flashback comedy from writer Steve Blair and directed by Peter Hewitt.
Earlier this year, Billboard selected Lott as one of its 2010 "Faces to Watch." She has also been featured in Teen Vogue, Interview, and Nylon, which called her "one of the U.K.'s most promising new pop stars."

BIEBER FEVER SPREADS TO THE HOOD! NIPSEY HUSSLE LOOKING TO WORK WITH JUSTIN BIEBER FOR DEBUT
Justin Bieber’s ghetto pass has been notarized and is being sent out as we go to print. Just one week after Raekwon confirmed with XXLMag.com that he’s jumping on Kanye West’s remix to the pop sensation’s song, “Runaway Love,” Nipsey Hussle told XXL that he would love to work with the Biebs.
Nipsey said he first met Bieber at the Epic Records offices and was blown away by him. The two quickly became friends and Hussle says he has a spot set aside for JB on his upcoming debut, South Central State of Mind.
“Justin Bieber, that’s my nigga; If we get in the studio we liable to knock something out,” he shared. “People think he’s just like a one-dimensional pop artist, that’s not the case with him. He really a talent. [When I met him] he was beating on his guitar rappin’ Tupac [and] playing the chorus to ‘Thugz Mansion.’”
“It might look like it would be strange or weird but he’s such a musician, I’m pretty sure we’d find a common ground,” he continued.
Nipsey Hussle’s South Central State of Mind is scheduled to come out this December.

BEYONCE HONORED BY SELF MAGAZINE!

According to Beyonce, "when you look around at all that's wrong in the world, the need to do something, no matter how big or how small, is clear." The superstar and "Friday Night Lights" actressMinka Kelly join three remarkable women as the winners of the 2010 SELF Women Doing Good Awards. Each year, SELF sets out to find inspiring women who are making a difference in the world, whether it is globally, nationally or in their communities. After sorting through mountains of nominations that readers sent in, Lisa Scarpinato, JJ Ramberg and Haley Kilpatrick stood out among all others. Each lady will be honored in New York
Beyonce speaks up about her charity work:
It all started when she was growing up in Houston, going to church with her family. "Pastor Rudy is still my pastor. I watched my parents get involved in [community charities] there, and that taught me how important it is to 'give 'til it hurts.' I saw how happy you could make people, whether just giving someone a hug, having a conversation or spending some time, and it became a part of me."
"I've always felt that you should give because it's what you can do to help. You don't do it to get praised. For a long time, being quiet about what I did was a conscious decision. "When you look around at all that's wrong in the world, the need to do something, no matter how big or how small, is clear."
Donated her entire salary:
Beyoncé was quiet, for instance, about the fact that after she visited Phoenix House, a drug and alcohol treatment center, as part of her research for 2008's "Cadillac Records," she donated her entire salary from the film to the organization.
Charities Beyonce Founded:
-And this spring, she opened the Beyoncé Cosmetology Center there, to provide opportunities for recovering addicts to learn job skills.
-The Survivor Foundation with former bandmate Kelly Rowland in 2005 to help disaster victims after Katrina hit.
-And last year, she became a spokeswoman for Girls Educational & Mentoring Services (GEMS), a group that helps young women who have been victims of sex trafficking.
So why is she speaking up about all this now?
"I've realized that sometimes it helps a cause more if I talk publicly about it. That's what increases awareness."
What motivates me "Sisterhood means everything to me. All the charities I'm involved with are special, but I find any organization that focuses on women and children really motivating. GEMS and the young ladies the nonprofit helps are very close to my heart. And what I took away from the clients at Phoenix House changed my life. These were real people who touched me so much that I had to go beyond making a donation. They're gaining skills at the Cosmetology Center, which will help them earn a living and find their way out of substance abuse—it's a testament to the possibility of second chances."
Who inspires me "My mother, Tina Knowles. She's an incredibly loving person who is the first to make time for others."
My proudest accomplishment "Singing "At Last" for President Barack Obama on his inauguration night was a personal accomplishment for me, both as a performer and an American."
My recharge routine "I love going to dinners, seeing plays, visiting museums and spending time with family and friends. I know it's time to jump back into my work when everything I do starts inspiring lyrics and melodies and I can't keep myself out of the studio."
One place in my life I'm not a perfectionist "I promise I'm working on this, but I could be less messy at home and keep the clothes in my closet and off the floor!"
How anyone can make a difference "Think about what truly touches you and motivates you to help, then start locally. Once it's in your heart to give, you'll have to follow through. I am a happy woman—very happy—because I know that I've worked hard, and I love being able to give back."
