Rumors that Electro will be the villain in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" might be true after all. Variety shares the scoop that an actor has been approached to play the supervillain, and he is none other than the "Django Unchained" leading man Jamie Foxx. Multiple sources, however, note that Foxx is still in early talks with Sony Pictures. Still, the Oscar-winning "Ray" actor manages to add fuel to his casting report as tweeting, "Dressed up as Electro for Halloween last night. Costume fits well." Though Foxx hasn't been confirmed for the part, director Marc Webb has already made a comment on the actor's possible involvment in the Spidey film. "I think Jamie Foxx is electrifying," he says at the press junket of "The Amazing Spider-Man" DVD/Blu-ray release. "I think Jamie Foxx is one of the best actors around today. He's such a great character actor and he's a really brilliant guy. I would love to work with him and you'll be hearing more on that shortly, I'm sure." Of Electro himself, Webb says, "I like Electro." He goes on, "I'm fascinated by Norman Osborn and the different inflections of him. And Harry. Mary Jane and Gwen are always interesting to me." For those who are unfamiliar with Electro, the antagonist is also known as Max Dillon. He gains the ability to control electricity after being struck by lightning while working on a power line. The character first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #9, which was published in February 1964. Speculations that Electro will appear in the "Amazing Spider-Man" sequel sparked after audience noticed lightning that was prominently featured in the post-credit scene of the first film. In it, Dr. Curt Connors was locked in an asylum and he was visited by a mysterious figure who asked if Peter Parker knew the truth about his father. The upcoming Spidey sequel will bring back Webb as the director. Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone will also return as Peter and his first love Gwen Stacy respectively. Though Gwen will still make appearance, the sequel reportedly will also feature Peter's other love interest Mary Jane Watson, who reportedly will be played by Shailene Woodley. "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" will make its way out onto the U.S. cinemas on May 2, 2014.

Another report surrounding Marvel's "Phase 2" project has emerged. This time around, it is said that villainous Thanos has been confirmed to appear in "The Avengers 2" and "Guardians of the Galaxy". Sharing the news is Cosmic Book News, which has a chance to speak with Thanos creator Jim Starlin during a recent Montreal Comic-Con event. According to the site, Starlin confirms that the deal with Marvel Studios/Walt Disney Pictures has already been "in place" and that the Mad Titan will appear in both "The Avengers" sequel and the space heroes movie. Thanos briefly appeared in the mid-credit scene of the Earth's Mightiest Hero movie. In the scene, he hinted about a possible Chitauri invasion upon the Earth. Since then, many fans have been speculating that the Mad Titan will become the "Avengers 2" main villain. Aside from bringing back Thanos, "Avengers 2" may introduce some new names. Marvel co-chairman Louis D'Esposito recently hinted, "We discussed it at the time and I think in 'The Avengers 2' will see some new characters." "We're currently working on Phase 2 and we have 'Iron Man 3', 'Thor: The Dark World' and 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' so we returned to those franchises to enlarge them, but I think in 'The Avengers 2' will see one or two new characters." As for "Guardians of the Galaxy", the project has officially locked James Gunn as its director and scribe. Taking to his Facebook account on Tuesday, September 18, Gunn announced, "Until now I haven't said anything, because I'm trying to be less expulsive about this project than I am about the rest of my life. But last night I got the go-ahead from Kevin Feige to let you all know that, yes, indeed, I am rewriting and directing 'Guardians of the Galaxy'." "As a lifelong lover of Marvel comics, space epics, AND raccoons, this is the movie I've been waiting to make since I was nine years old. Kevin, Joss [Whedon], and all the folks at Marvel have been amazing collaborators so far, and we're committed to bringing you something majestic, beautiful, and unique." "The Avengers 2" will hit the U.S. cinemas on May 1, 2015, while "Guardians of the Galaxy" is set to open nationwide on August 1, 2014.

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson scared off a gang of would-be thieves on the set of his latest film. The 40-year-old actor spotted a group of youths breaking into a warehouse in Hackney, East London while filming The Fast and the Furious 6 and stormed off the set mid-scene – dressed in full FBI agent costume – to chase the burglars away. A source told The Sun newspaper: “It was so funny. The Rock looked like an action hero because he had his flak jacket on and an FBI badge in his hand. “All of a sudden there was loads of gunfire and this giant dressed as a copper was about to mow them down. “The lads jumped out of their skin and scarpered down the canal path and left the crew in peace. They must have thought they were in the middle of a real-life action movie. “Now the crew are joking that they should drop security and just have The Rock do it.” The former wrestler managed to prevent the theft of expensive equipment thanks to his quick thinking and his impressive 6’5″ frame. The Fast and the Furious 6 also stars Vin Diesel and singer Rihanna, who is set to play a villain in the popular film franchise.

"Iron Man" has reportedly made a last minute addition to its cast ensemble by nabbing a Chinese actor to star as Radioactive Man. Chinese movie site Mtime has shared the news that actor Wang Xueqi has officially been cast as the villainous character who is also known as Chen Lu. Xueqi was rumored to be cast as a replacement for Andy Lau, who was originally eyed to join the superhero blockbuster film. The 66-year-old thesp was previously spotted talking to "Iron Man 3" chief producer Dan Mintz before his casting news emerged. In the Marvel universe, Lu is described as a nuclear physicist and Communist agent in China. Lu, who first appeared in Journey Into Mystery #93 in June 1963, was originally ordered to find a way to defeat Thor. Lu, who was often employed by The Mandarin (Ben Kingsley's character), then exposed himself to small doses of radiation so that he can endure a massive barrage. He later transformed into Radioactive Man who planned to eventually take over the world. It has been rumored that Chen Lu will be featured in the post-credits scene of the third armored hero movie, which will relate to upcoming "Ant-Man" movie to be directed by Edgar Wright. Directed by Shane Black, "Iron Man 3" still hasn't unveiled its plot. However, the story reportedly will be loosely based on Warren Ellis' six-issue "Extremis" comic book series, which presents a new origin story that focuses on nanotechnology. Robert Downey Jr., who recently injured his ankle while shooting the movie in Willmington, will reprise his role as Tony Stark a.k.a Iron Man. Joining him are Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce and Jon Favreau. "Iron Man 3" will open wide in the U.S. on May 3, 2013.
