Morris Chestnut has joined the cast of Kick Ass 2. The Boyz N the Hood star joins Scrubs‘ Donald Faison and War Horse’s Robert Emms as the latest to sign on and suit up for the sequel to Matthew Vaughn‘s 2010 superhero hit. Vibe reports that Chestnut will be playing Hit-Girl’s guardian, taking over responsibilities in the wake of Big Daddy’s death. Based on Mark Millar‘s popular comic-book series, Kick Ass 2 follows the vigilante heroics of altruistic high schooler Kick Ass (Aaron Johnson) and the cute but deceptively dangerous Hit-Girl, played by the precocious Chloë Grace Moretz. Danger looms as Christopher Mintz-Plasse‘s Red Mist seeks revenge after the death of his father, and Kick Ass is once again charged with saving the day. Johnson, Moretz and Nicholas Cage are all in line to return for the anticipated sequel. The underrated John Leguizamo is also on board, as is the beautiful Yancy Butler. Kick Ass 2 is written and directed by Jeff Wadlow. It is scheduled for release next year.

Today was full of announcements for the Resident Evil franchise. Releasing a trailer for the sixth edition of the video game, Resident Evil 6 which is scheduled to drop in November. A teaser trailer was also released today on the fifth film that is set to be released in September of this year hit the net as well. Word quickly spread, Re5ident Evil: Retribution also marks the return of a handful of fan favorites to the film franchise. Although died in previous films, the fifth installment will include the return of Michelle Rodriguez,Sienna Guillory, Kevin Durand, Shawn Roberts, Colin Salmon, Johann Urb, Boris Kodjoe, and Li Bingbing.
