*Only 6 teams since 1979 have started the season No. 1 and entered the tournament ranked No.1 overall and have gone on to win the tournament.

*Since the NCAA started seeding teams in 1979, only once have all #1 seeds made it to the Final Four (2008)

*For the past 20 years; only 4 teams entering the tournament with only one loss have made it to the final four, and none have won a national championship. (Good thing no one has that this year)

*Since 2000 no Big East team has made consecutive trips to the Final Four. (Sorry UConn)

*The last time a team that was No.1 overall at the start of the tournament has gone on to win a national championship was North Carolina in 2005.
